What is Shmuesn?

Shmuesn is a Yiddish verb meaning to chat, to talk idly or casually in a friendly way. It is one of the Yiddish words that has made its way in the English language, usually spelled "schmooze", along with other words such as bagel and klutz. Why did I choose this word? I wanted to start a new blog that would let me express opinions about a variety of subjects, subjects that would not be covered on my genealogy blog. Also, I'm Jewish, so I thought a Yiddish word might be fun to use. Finally, it just sounds funny when paired with my name.

What is the subject of this blog? Anything, other than my family history and genealogy research, that I feel like talking about such as movies, books, history, politics, food, pretty much anything. This blog is for me more than for anyone else but I hope some people find some of my posts interesting and will comment whether they agree or not.

LET THE SHMUESN BEGIN!
